About Enigma Machine.

Enigma Machine is a mite-tiny press run by myself, Kari, the editor, and Kara, the production designer.

Submissions Guidelines

Enigma Machine is open to submissions! Please submit here.

Enigma Machine seeks to accept a modest number of contributors annually. Prepare to be interviewed upon acceptance.

Submissions should include a substantial amount of work: three or four short (or short-short) stories or creative essays or excerpts, five to ten poems. Preferably, submissions should be in a single genre. Because of the volume of work this ties up, response time is rapid.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please withdraw your submission immediately if it is accepted elsewhere!

Each contributor receives compensation of $50.

Don’t submit hastily! When you’re ready, format the subject with your name and genre. You can be vague about the genre, but be straightforward about your name. A list of accomplishments are not mandatory, but as far as a cover letter goes, we would like to know who you are, what you like, the titles of the pieces you’ve submitted, and what kind of content you could provide to the site if accepted - interviews, spotlights on projects, a performance vlog series, notes toward a critical poetics of social media - ! We will ask for a contributor bio upon acceptance. Attach the submission in one document, preferably a .docx, .doc or .rtf, and you’re golden.
